산업부, ｢韓美 비즈니스 라운드테이블｣ 계기 美상무부와 공급망 협력에 관한 공동성명 발표

 

 

□ 산업통상자원부(장관 문승욱)는 5.21(금) 23시(美동부시간 기준), ｢한미 비즈니스 라운드테이블｣ 이후, 美 상무부와 핵심산업의 회복력 있는 공급망 협력을 관한 논의 결과를 공동성명으로 발표

 ㅇ 공동성명은 양부처가 인력양성 및 교류, 공동 R&D, 국제 표준 등 한미 민관 협력의 중요성을 인지하고, 향후 한미간 협력방안에 대해 합의한다는 것이 주요 내용임 (상세 내용은 붙임 참고)

  지나 레이몬도 미합중국 상무부 장관은 대한민국 문재인 대통령과 문승욱 산업통상자원부 장관의 방미를 환영한다. 코로나19의 세계적 유행, 기후변화 시대를 맞아 미합중국과 대한민국은 디지털, 저탄소 경제가 지속적으로 우리 사회를 변화시키고 공동의 경제 번영을 견인한다는 것을 인식한다. 오늘 반도체, 배터리, 자동차, 백신 등 바이오 산업의 기업인들과 함께한 생산적인 논의 후에, 양국은 혁신의 중심인 양국 핵심산업의 회복력 있는 공급망을 보장하기 위한 노력을 지원하기로 합의한다.

 

  민간 기업의 상호 투자는 양국 각각의 견고한 공급망에 오랫동안 크게 기여해왔다. 양국의 산업계 대표 기업들간 향후 협력은 회복력 있는 공급망과 양국의 산업 경쟁력을 보장하기 위한 최고의 기회를 만들 것이다. 

 

  산업통상자원부와 상무부는 협력을 촉진시키기 위해 양국의 인력 교류, 공동 R&D 프로그램, 국제 표준개발에 대한 민관 협력의 중요성을 인지한다. 양국 정부는 무역을 촉진하고, 상호 호환성을 증진시키기 위한 국제 표준을 지속 지원해나갈 것이다.

 

  특히, 상무부와 산업통상자원부는 현재의 도전과제에 대응하고 변혁적 기술을 발전시켜 나가기 위해 ‘한미 산업협력 대화’ 채널에서 정례적으로 공급망 회복력을 논의한다는 의향을 공유한다.

  U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo is honored to welcome President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in and Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Moon Sung Wook. In the era of COVID-19 pandemic and climate change, the United States and the Republic of Korea recognize that the digital and low-carbon economy will continue to transform our societies and drive our shared economic prosperity. Today, following our productive discussions with private companies from the semiconductor, battery, automobile, and bioscience (such as vaccine) industries, we commit to supporting efforts that will ensure resilient supply chains of our critical industries that are the heart of innovation. 

  The mutual investments of private companies have long made critical contributions to the strength of our countries’ respective supply chains. The further collaboration between industry leaders from both countries will provide the best opportunity to ensure resilient supply chains and the competitiveness of our industries.  

  To promote the collaboration, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) and the U.S. Department of Commerce recognize the importance of public-private sector cooperation on personnel exchanges, joint research and development programs, and international standards development. Both governments will continue to support international standards that facilitate trade and promote interoperability. 

  In particular, it is Commerce and MOTIE’s shared intention to discuss the resiliency of supply chains in our bilateral commercial dialogue, meeting in a regular basis, to address current challenges and advance transformational technology.
